Venice Blues Festival Volunteers Needed

At Daisy Does It, we believe in creating fun, safe, vibrant events that help grow the economic impact for the community while also bringing together people from all different walks of life.

 

Critical to the success of our events are the many dedicated volunteers who help to ensure that every detail of the event runs smooth. Volunteers can expect good communication, clear expectations, and a vibrant group of dedicated staff designed to help make the volunteering experience more fulfilling.

The Venice Blues Festival offers many different types of volunteering opportunities. We need volunteers for the beginning, during and after the festival. Volunteers must apply and not all volunteers will be selected.

Many of the positions require you to be on your feet for 3+ hours, lifting heavy items over 50lbs, and being in the elements for long periods of time. Please be aware when you apply what the specific roll you would like to fill.

Absolutely no foul language, discrimination or indecent behavior will be tolerated. All volunteers must wear proper attire and on time for their shift. If selected, you must attend a volunteer/vendor meeting on March 16th at Café Venice 11:30am -1:30pm. We will have both in-person and virtual attendance available.  

Volunteer Opportunities & Job Descriptions

Vendor Space Allocation: This job will entail using the provided event setup map to outline and mark the vendors 10X10 spaces. You would be expected to measure properly ensuring all vendors have adequate space and access to the electricity if needed. Use of measuring tape, spray paint, stickers, marking utensils may be necessary.

 

Fence Installation: As a ticketed event we will make use of temporary fencing. This will require being able to lift over 50lbs, and the ability to use a sledgehammer or similar tool. This is a physically demanding position.

 

Parking and Traffic Flow Setup: There will be several designated parking areas. Bands, VIP & handicap, vendor parking, and public parking. This position has multiple roles and will require being on your feet for over 3 hours in the elements. One will need the ability to allocate proper parking based on type to the correct areas as noted on festival map. Parking assistants will need to guide cars into proper parking spots to maximize the use of space. The use of traffic wands and proper safety gear will be needed.

 

Ticket Collection: We will need several volunteers to take tickets and sell tickets at the door for this event. This position will require being on your feet for over 3 hours in the elements. You will need to be able to handle scanning of tickets and comfortable with technology. You will be checking everyone’s ID and they will be given bands for OVER 21 in one color and UNDER 21 in another. Everyone must wear a band. Security will be there checking all personal items and volunteers will also be responsible for reminding patrons of the prohibited items.  

 

Bar Staff: We need several volunteers to pour beers from the Budweiser trailers. This position will require being on your feet for over 3 hours in the elements. These volunteers will take the orders and make sure the festival staff has charged each patron BEFORE handing their beverage to them. Daisy Does It staff will handle all of the monies at the Budweiser trailers.

 

Water & Soda Sales: We will need several volunteers to sell water and soda to patrons. This position will require being on your feet for over 3 hours in the elements. Must be capable of using point of sale system and taking monies and returning proper change.

 

Volunteer Check in Table: This is an opportunity for volunteers who can not be on their feet for an extended period of time to help out. We will need to check in all volunteers. This will also be a booth for festival information. These workers will be responsible for knowing the schedules of bands, where things are located.

 

Merch Tent: We will need 1 volunteer in charge of helping sell the various bands merchandise. This will be located by the VIP tent and products and pricing will vary. This position will require being on your feet for over 3 hours in the elements. Must be capable of using point of sale system and taking monies and returning proper change. When interacting with the musicians this will require professionalism and discretion. There will be an application process for this opportunity.

 

VIP Tent: You will be responsible for keeping the VIP tent clean and providing information to the VIP patrons about the event. This position will require being on your feet for over 3 hours in the elements. Must be professional and courteous.

 

Other: We have other volunteer positions available that will become available as the planning process continues. Please feel free to fill out our Time & Talent questionnaire and we will reach out to you if we fell you would be a perfect fit.

A MANDATORY VOLUNTEER MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MARCH 16TH, AT CAFÉ VENICE AT 11:30 – 1:30. IF OFFERED A VOLUNTEER POSITION THIS IS WHERE YOU WE WILL REVIEW ALL EXPECTATIONS, HAND OUT T-SHIRTS, AND SET EXPECATIONS. IF YOU ARE UN ABLE TO ATTEND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO JOIN VIRTUALLY.
